Known for their lion-like manes, Chow Chows are independent dogs that can be wary of strangers and protective of their families but may not be overly affectionate. The name “Chow Chow” may have originated from a pidgin English term used by British merchants to describe various items from the East. They require short walks and are not very active dogs. A Chow Chow can cost around $11,000.
