Howling at sirens
Beyond their very well-developed nose, dogs’ ears can also hear a lot more than humans can.
Howling at sirens can be a form of communication. When a dog hears a siren, which has a pitch and tone similar to howling, they might interpret it as another dog communicating and may join in as a response.
The loud sound of sirens can also be a disturbance in the dog’s environment, and their howling is a way of alerting their owners to stay alert.
