Rolling in smells

Rolling in garbage, in other animals’ feces… Dogs will roll in the most inconvenient things possible. 

However, this behavior is not something you should yell at them about. This behavior is rooted in old instincts and can be motivated by many things. 

You might find your dog rolling in smells to camouflage from predators or even to try to communicate with you: in a domestic setting, this behavior could be a way for a dog to share scents with their human family. 

Besides, they can be doing this to put their own scent into things and mark their territory.
