The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, passed away on June 25, 2009. His death was a shock, and the whole world stopped, too stunned to process such a loss.

Michael Jackson had a history of substance abuse, and it has been reported that he needed anesthetics to sleep. Although these substances were administered by his doctor, it spiraled out of control.

According to The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, the official cause of his death was acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication. His personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, was charged and later convicted of involuntary manslaughter for administering the drugs that led to Jackson’s death.

The drugs that were frequently administered to Michael Jackson affect the central nervous system, and although they are prescription drugs, these substances are known for creating dependency and addiction.
