04. Titanic Lifejacket
Out of a total of 3,000 lifejackets on board the Titanic, only 12 remain today in the world. It was retrieved by the Mackay-Bennett, the first of a total of four ships sent by the White Star Line to search for bodies after the sinking of the Titanic.
Made from linen and cork, this artifact was recovered from the wreck site and represents one of the main items that helped search crews find bodies. Of the over 1,500 victims, only 333 people were found, as passengers and crew members who could not obtain a lifejacket drowned in the ocean.
This lifejacket is not only an essential emergency aid but also a significant item in the search for more survivors.
