The Titanic Story

The ship’s journey began on April 10, 1912, in Southampton, England, and was headed to New York City. The Titanic was one of the most luxurious and technologically advanced ships of its time. However, on the night of April 14, only four days later, the ship struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean and sank. With approximately 2,224 people on board, this maritime disaster resulted in the deaths of more than 1,500 people.

This disaster resulted in significant changes in maritime safety regulations, leading to the establishment of international rules requiring ships to carry enough lifeboats for all passengers and crew, better iceberg monitoring, and improved communication at sea.

All those who survived have talked about heroism, sacrifice, and tragedy when asked about the Titanic. The shipwreck itself was discovered in 1985 on the ocean floor, and numerous expeditions have been conducted to investigate the Titanic’s history.
