Venice, Italy, famous for its canals and culture, faces big problems due to lots of tourists and rising water.

The weight of millions of annual visitors has strained Venice’s architectural gems, contributing to wear and tear on its historic buildings and infrastructure, and these places get ruined by tourism.

Also, there’s more flooding in Venice, called “acqua alta.” It is increasingly frequent and severe due to rising sea levels associated with climate change.

To save Venice, they’re doing things like the MOSE project to stop the water.

If you visit during quieter times or go to less-busy places, you can still enjoy Venice’s fun stuff like art, history, and food without big crowds.
