Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping Beauty – Walt Disney Pictures

Sleeping Beauty is a classic animated movie, but it also had a live-action adaptation produced with a twist: Maleficent, which was released in 2014, focuses on the villain, bringing a new perspective to the story.

The origins of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ can be traced back even further through various folk traditions and oral storytelling, making it a tale that evolved over time and across cultures. The story’s origin, however, was initially written by Charles Perrault in 1697 and later modified by the Brothers Grimm in the early 19th century.

In Perrault’s rendition, the princess, named Aurora, falls into a deep sleep after pricking her finger on a spindle and is later awakened by a prince. Later on, The Brothers Grimm’s adaptation includes similar elements, such as the princess pricking her finger on a spindle and falling into a deep slumber, only to be awakened by a prince.
