03. David Schwimmer was the only cast member who didn’t have to audition for his role

Not only did David Schwimmer not have to audition for his role as Ross Geller, but Ross Geller was a character created with him in mind.

Kevin Bright of Bright/Kauffman/Crane Productions is one of the producers of the show and had previously worked with David Schwimmer before working on ‘Friends.’

In an interview with USA Today, Kevin Bright talked about the process of casting the ‘Friends’ actors. “David Schwimmer we worked with before, and the writers had him in mind for the part of Ross. Lisa and Jennifer and Matthew and Matt were cast from auditions. Courteney we originally wanted to play Rachel, and she insisted she wasn’t Rachel but Monica. And she was right.”
