In the first episode of season four, Rachel is invited by her current boyfriend, Joshua, to go to his place, since his parents are out of town.
When Rachel surprisingly meets his parents, as they get back into town and show up at home unannounced, we may think that’s the surprise element in the episode. However, a different plot twist is that Joshua’s father is played by Matthew Perry’s real-life dad, John Bennett Perry.
