Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – Walt Disney Pictures

“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” has its origins in traditional European fairy tales, with the most famous version being the one popularized by the Brothers Grimm in their collection titled “Grimm’s Fairy Tales.”

The Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen are names you will often encounter when delving into discussions on the origins of Disney stories, as they have a long history of writing classical fairy tales.

The first edition of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” was published in 1812. The Brothers Grimm’s rendition of “Snow White” was based on traditional European folk tales that had circulated for centuries.

These folk tales were often passed down orally before being collected and published by folklorists like the Grimms. While Disney retained the basic elements of the Grimm story, he added his own touches and softened some of the darker aspects to make it more suitable for family audiences.
