Tangled

The beloved new version of Rapunzel has its origins in the German fairy tale ‘Rapunzel’ by The Brothers Grimm, of course.

The original tale of ‘Rapunzel’ tells the story of a young girl with long, magical hair who is trapped in a tower by a wicked witch. A prince discovers her, and after some trials, they eventually find a way for Rapunzel to escape the tower.

While the fairy tale of Rapunzel is often seen through a romantic and enchanting lens, it does have darker elements. Rapunzel’s confinement in the tower by the witch raises questions about the psychological and emotional toll of isolation. Rapunzel spends years without any human interaction.
