Scooting on the floor
Unfortunately and unsurprisingly, this behavior is triggered exclusively by discomfort.
One of the most common reasons for scooting is discomfort or irritation of the anal glands. This behavior can also indicate worm infestation, and in some cases, dogs may scoot to try to expel segments of worms.
If there is still fecal residue after the dog poops, they may try to remove it by scooting on the floor. If this is a persistent habit of your dog, consult a veterinarian for further investigation.
