Carnival of Venice – Italy

Although it has the same name, the vibes at the Carnival of Venice are very different from the Brazilian Carnival. 

In this Italian celebration, participants wear elaborate masks and elegant costumes, marking the end of winter, also celebrated around February.

The Carnival of Venice is linked to the Christian tradition of pre-Lenten celebrations, and the masks worn often represent characters from traditional Italian commedia dell’arte, historical figures, or mythical beings. 

The parades and events surrounding this celebration bring festivity to the city during the colder months.
