When we think of nature, we usually perceive it as a calming presence that we turn to when we want to wind down, relax, and disconnect from the busy world. However, its vast biodiversity can be rather intimidating at times. 

Perhaps this is because we have become accustomed to living in cities, where wild animals are too afraid to inhabit. It seems impossible to imagine that, at one point, we, as human beings, coexisted with various animals.

We have curated a few pictures that capture how surprising nature can be and, at times, a bit unhinged as well. There are just so many scary and weird-looking animals and plants existing out there, and we have no idea.

In this post, we will showcase situations in which nature resembles more of a fantasy—or even a horror—movie than the peaceful place with butterflies, grass, and flowers that we often envision. Trigger warning: you may become more conscious of frightening animals after reading this.
