Amish people generally marry young

Since the Amish predominantly rely on agriculture and handcraft practices for their livelihood, marriage can be seen as a practical step toward building a productive and sustainable household.

It is important to highlight that the Amish need permission to get married, and this is only given after they are baptized, which usually occurs sometime after their 18th birthday. The permission for marriage is granted by another member of the church.
