Acting was already a part of her family. Mara Wilson took an interest in becoming an actress after watching her older brother, Danny, in commercials.

Widely known for her portrayal of the beloved character Matilda (1996), who left her mark on an entire generation, Mara also appeared in Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) and Miracle on 34th Street (1994) before taking a hiatus from the screen until 2012.

Wilson attended the Idyllwild Arts Academy and, after graduating in 2005, moved to New York City, where she continued her studies at New York’s Tisch School of the Arts. Since 2012, Mara Wilson has been involved in TV shows such as Missed Connection and appeared in the movie Billie Bob Joe (2015).

In 2012, Mara expressed her frustration with the movie-making process and its lack of creative freedom as one of the reasons she left the industry.
