10. Sponges
Have you ever thought that your sponge may be getting your dishes dirtier?
Sounds contradictory, but this is the kind of thing we may overlook on our cleaning routine and makes a lot of difference on the daily cleaning efficiency.
It is important to regularly sanitize your sponges to make sure it won’t get your dishes dirtier by spreading harmful bacteria. The Michigan State University (MSU) recommends getting the sponge completely wet and putting it on the microwave for 1 minute on high. The heat should kill any bacteria.
You should be careful when removing the sponge from the microwave, because it will be hot. A
lso, if your sponge has any metallic material you should not put it in the microwave! Instead, you can sanitize your sponge in a dishwasher.
