Dragon Boat Festival – China
This is probably one of the oldest cultural traditions in this article, dating back 2,000 years.
Celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar, which usually falls in June, multiple legends attempt to identify the origin of this festival.
One of them is the belief that hanging up pouches of herbs and wearing colorful silk threads were thought to ward off disease and bring good fortune. Besides, people celebrate by participating in dragon boat races, as dragon boats were traditionally used to scare away evil spirits.
